Information on Zantac
What is Zantac? Zantac is in a group of drugs called histamine-2 blockers. Zantac works by reducing the amount of acid your stomach produces. Zantac is used to treat and prevent ulcers in the stomach and intestines. It also treats conditions in which the stomach produces too much acid, such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Zantac also treats gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and other conditions in which acid backs up from the stomach into the esophagus, causing heartburn. Zantac may also be used for other purposes not listed in this medication guide.
What is the most important information I should know about Zantac? Before using this medication, tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs, or if you have kidney disease, liver disease, or porphyria. Using Zantac may increase your risk of developing pneumonia. Symptoms of pneumonia include chest pain, fever, feeling short of breath, and coughing up green or yellow mucus. Talk with your doctor about your specific risk of developing pneumonia. Zantac granules and effervescent tablets must be dissolved in water before you take them. Your doctor may recommend an antacid to help relieve pain. Carefully follow your doctor's directions about the type of antacid to use, and when to use it. Avoid drinking alcohol. It can increase the risk of damage to your stomach. It may take up to 8 weeks of using this medicine before your ulcer heals. For best results, keep using the medication as directed. Talk with your doctor if your symptoms do not improve after 6 weeks of treatment.
What should I discuss with my healthcare provider before using Zantac? Do not use this medication if you are allergic to ranitidine. Before using Zantac, tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs, or if you have: kidney disease; liver disease; or porphyria. If you have any of the conditions listed above, you may need a dose adjustment or special tests to safely take Zantac. The Zantac effervescent tablet may contain phenylalanine. Talk to your doctor before using this form of Zantac if you have phenylketonuria (PKU). FDA pregnancy category B. This medication is not expected to be harmful to an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment. Zantac passes into breast milk. Do not take Zantac without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby. Using Zantac may increase your risk of developing pneumonia. Symptoms of pneumonia include chest pain, fever, feeling short of breath, and coughing up green or yellow mucus. Talk with your doctor about your specific risk of developing pneumonia.
Zantac side effects Stop using Zantac and get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects: chest pain, fever, feeling short of breath, coughing up green or yellow mucus;easy bruising or bleeding, unusual weakness;fast or slow heart rate;problems with your vision;fever, sore throat, and headache with a severe blistering, peeling, and red skin rash; or nausea, stomach pain, low fever, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes). Less serious side effects may include: headache (may be severe);drowsiness, dizziness;sleep problems (insomnia);decreased sex drive, impotence, or difficulty having an orgasm; orswollen or tender breasts (in men);nausea, vomiting, stomach pain; ordiarrhea or constipation. This is not a complete list of side effects and others may occur. Tell your doctor about any unusual or bothersome side effect. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088.
What other drugs will affect Zantac? Before taking Zantac, tell your doctor if you are taking triazolam (Halcion). You may not be able to use Zantac, or you may need dosage adjustments or special tests during treatment. There may be other drugs that can interact with Zantac, or be affected by Zantac. Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter medications you use. This includes vitamins, minerals, herbal products, and drugs prescribed by other doctors. 【分类】抗酸及抗溃疡药 【别名】呋硫消胺;呋喃硝胺;甲硝呋胍;拉弟克;善胃得;胃安太定;西斯塔;善得康,盐酸雷尼替丁 【性状】常用其盐酸盐,为类白色或淡黄色结晶性粉末;有异臭,味微苦带涩;极易潮解,吸潮后颜色变深。在水中或甲醇中易溶,在乙醇中略溶,在丙酮中几乎不溶。熔点137-143℃。 【药理作用】为一选择性H2受体拮抗剂,能有效的抑制组胺、五肽胃泌素及食物刺激后引起的胃酸分泌,降低胃酸和胃酶的活性,但对胃泌素及性激素的分泌无影响。 【适应症】主要用于治疗十二指肠溃疡、良性胃溃疡、术后溃疡、反流性食管炎及卓-艾综合征等。静注可用于上消化道出血。 【注意事项】1.疑为癌性溃疡病人,使用前应先明确诊断,以免延误治疗。2.孕妇及婴儿仅限于绝对必要的病例才用,8岁以下儿童禁用。3.静注后部分病人出现面热感、头晕、恶心、出汗及胃刺激,持续10多分钟可自行消失。有时在静注部位出现瘙痒、发红,1小时后消失。有时还可产生焦虑、兴奋、健忘等。4.对肝有一定毒性,但停药后即可恢复。5.男性乳房女性化少见,发生率随年龄的增加而升高。6.可降低维生素B12的吸收,长期使用可致B12缺乏。7.与普鲁卡因山胺并用,可使其清除率降低。8.可减少肝脏血流量,因而与普奈洛尔、利多卡因等代谢受肝血流量影响大的药物合用时,可延缓这些药物的作用。9.严重肾功能衰竭病人、肝功能不良者慎用。 【药物相互作用】1.与普鲁卡因胺并用,可使普鲁卡因胺的清除率降低。2.可减少肝脏血流量,因而与普萘洛尔、利多卡因等代谢受肝血流量影响大的药物合用时,可延缓这些药物的作用。 ------------------------------------------------------ 更新于2010年12月28日 |
